Junior Festival is a national program created by the National Federation of Music Clubs. It is a non-competitive event where students perform and are adjudicated on their own merits. Students receive points for all rated participation (Superior=5 pts., Excellent=4pts., Satisfactory=3pts., Fair=2pts., and Needs Improvement=1pt) and these points accumulate for the duration of their festival career. When a student has achieved 15 points they receive a trophy (Trophies are awarded for all 15 point increments: 15, 30, 45, etc.). Points must have been earned and accumulated in the same event each year (such as Piano Solo, Piano Duet, Flute Concerto, etc.).These points also follow the student geographically, i.e. from Nevada to Utah if a family moves. The music for Junior Festival is very specific and is found in the NFMC bulletin. The 2011-2013 Bulletin may be purchased for $7 from Bonnie's Music Shoppe (East and West locations). Basic rules and information for the event are included in the website. See the bulletin for all exceptions and more specific rules and regulations.
